7 view modes for multi-dimensional data
GenogramAI offers six different view modes that overlay additional information onto your genogram. Switch between views to focus on cultural heritage, medical history, religious affiliations, and more.
Switching Views
How to Change View Mode
- 1Look for the View selector in the top toolbar
- 2Click to open the dropdown menu
- 3Select your desired view (Cultural, Medical, Religious, etc.)
- 4The genogram updates instantly with the new overlay
Tip: You can also use keyboard shortcuts 1-6 to quickly switch views.

Displays heritage patterns inside person symbols using distinct fill patterns

Displays religious affiliation with symbols and denomination details

Adding View Data
For view overlays to display, you need to add the relevant data to each person. This is done through the Inspector panel.
Adding Cultural Heritage
- 1. Select a person
- 2. Open Inspector (double-click or I)
- 3. Go to Cultural section
- 4. Select heritage pattern type
- 5. Choose pattern color
Adding Medical Conditions
- 1. Select a person
- 2. Open Inspector (double-click or I)
- 3. Go to Medical section
- 4. Toggle quadrants 1-4 on/off
- 5. Set custom labels for your genogram
Adding Religion
- 1. Select a person
- 2. Open Inspector (double-click or I)
- 3. Go to Cultural section
- 4. Select religion from dropdown
- 5. Symbol appears when in Religious view
Adding Location
- 1. Select a person
- 2. Open Inspector (double-click or I)
- 3. Go to Location section
- 4. Enter city and/or country
- 5. Location shows in Location view
Best Practices
- Use consistent patterns
Within a genogram, use the same pattern/color for the same heritage to maintain clarity.
- Create a legend
When presenting, explain what each pattern/color represents in your genogram.
- Focus on relevant views
For therapy sessions, you might focus on Emotional and Medical views. For genealogy, Cultural and Location views.
- Export in different views
Export your genogram in multiple view modes to create comprehensive documentation.
