How to Show Emotional Relationships on a Genogram (Close, Distant, Hostile, Cutoff)
About this lesson
Draw emotional relationship lines in GenogramAI: select a person, then drag from the Emotional Line button to the other person. Every new line starts as Close, and the panel lists all 39 types, including distant, hostile, fused and cutoff. Add a note and it shows on the line. One-way types such as Focused On have a small flip button to point the arrow at the right person, and every type you use is added to the genogram key.
Transcript
How do you show how two people get along on a genogram? Use emotional lines. Select a person, then drag from the Emotional Line button to the other person.
Every new line starts as close, and the panel lists all thirty-nine types. Try distant, hostile, fused, or cut off. Add a note, and it shows on the line.
Draw as many as you need. This time, from Leo to his mother. Some types point one way.
Choose focused on, and flip the arrow so it points at Leo. Every type you use is added to the key. Or just ask AI: Leo and his dad are in conflict.
A few seconds later, the line is there.
