Creating Twins & Multiples
How to create and manage fraternal twins, identical twins, triplets, and higher-order multiples.
GenogramAI supports twin and multiple birth documentation with standard genogram notation—V-shaped connections for all multiples, plus a horizontal bar for identical twins.
Two Twin Types
- Fraternal (Dizygotic) - V-shape only. Developed from separate eggs.
- Identical (Monozygotic) - V-shape + horizontal bar. Developed from one egg.
Creating Twins
Method 1: Quick-Add from Parent
- Select a parent node
- Click the "Add Twins" button (Users icon)
- Two fraternal twins are created automatically
Method 2: Add Twin to Existing Child
- Click on a parent-child relationship line
- In the Inspector, find "Add Twin Sibling"
- Choose "Fraternal" or "Identical"
Method 3: Group Existing Siblings
- Select multiple siblings (Box Select or Shift+click)
- In the Inspector, click "Group as Twins"
- Choose Fraternal or Identical type
Creating Triplets & More
To create triplets or higher-order multiples:
- Create the first two as twins
- Select a parent-child edge to one of the twins
- Click "Add Twin Sibling" repeatedly
All siblings in the group share the same twin group ID and are connected with the V-shape.
Changing Twin Type

- In Inspector, find "Twin Grouping"
- Click "Fraternal (V)" or "Identical (Bar)"
