Printing & Saving as PDF

Every way to get your genogram onto paper or into a PDF file.

There are three ways to turn your genogram into a document. Which one you use depends on what you need — and Print is free on every plan.

The GenogramAI file menu (top left) showing Export image, Export PDF, GEDCOM, Print, and Publish options

Print (free, all plans)

  1. Open the menu (three lines, top left of the editor)
  2. Choose Print... — or just press Cmd+P (Mac) / Ctrl+P (Windows)
  3. A tidy print view opens with layout options

Tip: Print is also the free way to make a PDF. In your browser's print dialog, change the destination/printer to "Save as PDF" — this works on every plan and is perfect for emailing your genogram or submitting an assignment.

Export as PDF (Pro)

The menu's Export as PDF option generates a dedicated PDF file with export options like an integrated key, hidden branding, and anonymized names. It's part of the Pro plan, along with GEDCOM export and save-to-computer.

Export as an image (free)

  1. Menu → Export image...
  2. PNG at standard resolution is free; High Res (6x print quality) and SVG (vector) are Pro options
The Export image dialog with a live preview, toggles for grid dots, branding, anonymize and integrated key, plus PNG/SVG format and resolution options

Useful toggles in the export dialog: hide grid dots, hide generation lines, hide family group circles, and Integrated Key, which adds the symbol key onto the exported image so it explains itself.

Emailing your genogram

Export a PNG (or print-to-PDF as above), then attach the downloaded file to your email like any other document. You can also use Share to publish a view-only link instead of attaching a file.
